Question Asked: When Were Fridge Packs For Soda Invented?

It’s tough to remember a time when soda didn’t come in a fridge pack. For me, at least.
The “fridge pack” (that long skinny cardboard package of soda cans, that neatly fits in your fridge) was invented by Coca-Cola back in 2000.
It originally tested in a few select markets in 2001, and Coca-Cola instantly knew they had something big on their hands.
Sales started growing, and the number of units in fridge packs sold, versus the number of traditional packaging increased to the point where the original packaging was obsolete.
Coca-Cola officially went “full time” with the fridge pack in January of 2002.
Pepsi followed suit later that same year.

It’s hard to believe it’s only been around since 2001. You’re right – it seems like it’s always been around.
