Question Asked: What Is The Record For Holding One’s Breath?
|
Mar 10th, 2009 |
Uptil until recently, the record was from the 20s, and had not been broken by anyone, or even come close.
Until April 30th, 2008, when magician/illusionist/stuntman David Blane held his breath for an amazing 17 minutes and 4 seconds.
Apparently, the human body automatically does some stuff to help you hold your breath, when you’re plunged into cold water. Blood pressure rises, your heart slows down, and your heart pumps more blood, with less beats.
With some training, an average person, in decent shape, can hold their breath up to five whole minutes. I doubt anyone will come close to Blane’s 17+ minutes during our lifetimes, though.
