Question Asked: What Is The Most Expensive Dessert In The World?

Great question. I’ve never really thought about it, so let’s see what Google has to say.

According  to Reuter’s, recently Serendipity III in New York City set a world record for the most expensive dessert in the world, at a whopping $25,000 US.

Stephen Bruce, owner of Serendipity 3, partnered with luxury jeweler Euphoria New York to create the “Frrozen Haute Chocolate,” a blend of 28 cocoas, including 14 of the most expensive and exotic from around the globe.

The dessert, spelled with two Rs, is infused with 5 grams (0.2 ounces) of edible 23-karat gold and served in a goblet lined with edible gold. At the base of the goblet is an 18-karat gold bracelet with 1 carat of white diamonds.

The sundae is topped with whipped cream covered with more gold and a side of La Madeline au Truffle from Knipschildt Chocolatier, which sells for $2,600 a pound.

It is eaten with a gold spoon decorated with white and chocolate-colored diamonds, which can also be taken home.

I’ve been to that restaurant, and had their regular Frozen Hot Chocolate, which is great. Be prepared, if you want to eat there, call ahead, and get there early. Wait times can literally be six hours.  And yes, it’s the restaurante that John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale go to in the movie Serendipity.

Question Asked: What is John Cusack’s Best Movie Role to Date?

Great question.  As John Cusack is near and dear to me (I’ve got over 35 of his movies on DVD. Come on, he rocks), I’m curious about it myself.

How does one define something as the “best”?  Most successful? Most box office sales?  Personal opinion?

Having recently watched Grace Is Gone, I’d have to say that, performance wise, that was a hell of a role.

According to box office numbers, Con Air made the most money, so one could argue that’s his “best” movie.  But role-wise, I’ve got to give it to either Grace is Gone (Stanley Philipps), or Say Anything… (Lloyd Dobbler).  I say Grace is Gone because Cusack is just amazing in the role.  I say Say Anything… because Lloyd Dobbler put John Cusack on the map.  No one knew who he was until then, and now people still recognize him as the icon with the boombox held high overhead.

In case you’re curious, here’s the top five box office results for John Cusack movies:

  1. Con Air -$101 million
  2. American’s Sweethearts - $93 million
  3. 1408 - $71 million
  4. Serendipity - $50 million
  5. Runaway Jury - $49 million

It’s sad to note that Grace is Gone has only made $50,899 in the theater.  Given, it was only released on seven screens, but still.  If you haven’t it, and you’re a Cusack fan, you need to see it.  It’s an amazing (albeit depressing) film.
