Question Asked: What’s The Best Way To Send My Contact Information To Friends?

You’ve got a number of options, and as usual the “best” is subject to opinion.

However, if you’ve got an iPhone, you can download a number of applications. All of which I’ve tried.  The best, by far, is called “Presto“.

This application allows you to take any contact in your address book, and send it to anyone else (as long as you have their cell number, or e-mail address.) over any connection.   A lot of the other apps require you to be on the same wi-fi network for it to work. Presto works anywhere.

It’s super fast, and really easy to use. And right now, it’s only 99 cents in the app store. (Purchase it here.)

I’ve used it already to send out a new e-mail address to all my contacts (at once), when I changed e-mail addresses for work.  I didn’t have to call everyone. I didn’t have to write an e-mail and address it to a ton of people.  I used Presto, and it sent all my contacts a text message, with a link to a webpage.  On that webpage, they can download my vCard, and it automatically updates their contact for me in their phone.

The best part of Presto is that if the person you’re sending to has Presto on their phone the update occurs automatically in their contacts list.  They’ll get a text message saying “MJ has sent you contact information for MJ” (or whoever I sent it for), and they just click “accept”, and it updates.

None of the other apps do that. Which is what makes Presto the best one there is, period.  Be sure to download it from the app store before the people who made it realize how awesome it is, and jack up the price!  Here’s another link to download it.

Question Asked: When Does The New iPhone Come Out?

Technically, as of yet, there is no “new” iPhone.  Apple hasn’t made the announcement yet. However, there’s tons of rumors flying around the internet about when, and how, and where, and how much.

Though nothing’s confirmed, yet, the new iPhone is expected to be announced on June 8th, at a conference that Apple is holding.

This is generally the time of year when they announce new products, and discontinue old ones.  That’s why people are so sure that they’ll be a new version.

It’s likely that if announced on Monday, that the new iPhone wouldn’t hit the streets until August at the earliest, based on past years.

Question Asked: How Can I Find Out Sports Scores On My iPhone?

There’s a variety of different ways.  One of which being to simple use Safari to go to the websites of the teams you want to see the scores of.

A better way is to get the “Sportacular” application. It’s free, and gets you scores for every major sport there is.  You can set “favorites” to see all your favorite teams’ scores, regardless of what sport you’re viewing.

Rather than going to mlb.com, then nhl.com, then nba.com, you can get all the stats, updated every 30 seconds, right from the app. Well worth the price!

Question Asked: Can I Use My iPhone On A Network Other Than AT&T?

Offically, no. Not yet, at least.  Rumor has it that Apple is planning on adding Verizon to the available carriers for their iPhone.

Unofficially, yes.  There’s a method people are utilizing called “jailbreaking”, which will allow you to use the iPhone on any carrier that you choose.

However, doing so will void your warranty with Apple, and will likely cause your phone to stop working when the new 3.0 software comes out in a month and a half.

If you’re interested in jailbreaking your phone, anyway, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of companies online that will do the service for you for a small fee.

Question Asked: Can I Install iPhone Apps I Buy To More Than One Phone?

Technically, no. That’d be a violation of the Terms of Use for the app store.  The operating agreement stipulates that the apps you purchase are to be used exclusively on your phone, and not to be shared.

However, you can install the app on multiple phones, assuming that you’re syncing it to the same computer, and have the same iTunes account on both phones.

That would work, but would require you to sync all the apps to be exactly the same.  So you couldn’t have apps 1, 2 and 3 from phone A, and 4, 5,  and 6 from phone B. Both phones would have either 1, 2 and 3 or 4, 5 and 6, depending on which computer you sync’d from.
