Question Asked: How Much Money Does The MLB Make Per Year?

Major League Baseball is a lucrative business, or so you’d think.  All those expensive tickets. All those games.  It has to add up to a ton of money, doesn’t it?

The league itself doesn’t make as much as you’d think.  Not every penny taken in by every baseball team at every venue goes directly to the league.

For example, while the New York Yankees made over $360million in revenue last year, they paid out roughly $250 million of that for operating costs, and player salaries.

Of that, it’s rumored that the MLB gets a 10% cut, for letting a team be in the league.  (There’s no offical word on this, and obviously it’s something they don’t want public. This is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by someone.)

If we were to take 10% of the profit of all teams for the 2008 baseball season, then we could safely say that the MLB makes roughly a few billion dollars per year.

According to Forbes, in 2008 the MLB posted an increase in earnings of 5.5% over 2007.  That’s $5.8 billion dollars in one single year.

It seems as though the MLB is doing much better than the NBA, and WWE.

Question Asked: How Much Money Does The NBA Make Per Year?

According to Forbes Magazine, the average team in the NBA pulls in roughly $112 million per year, in ticket sales to their games.

While some make significantly more than others, it averages out to about $112 million, across all the teams.

Once you factor in the cost of paying all the employees, players, and coaches, the profit that the NBA makes from its franchised teams is very small.

Estimates say that it’s between $15 million and $20 million, however no exact number has been shared with the general public.

Question Asked: How Much Does A Website Cost?

Assuming you have no knowledge on how to build one for yourself, and have nothing built already, the costs can vary pretty greatly.

A number of factors need to be included to figure out how much it’ll cost you, such as

  • The developer you hire
  • What you want the website to do
  • What quality website you want.

If you just want a few pages on the internet to represent your business, you could probably get someone to build that for you for a few hundred dollars.

If you want a large scale e-commerce business, like Amazon, or a large scale online auction system, like eBay, it’s likely going to cost you thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars.

The thing to keep in mind also, is that with a website it’s not just “build it” and let it go.  Websites take maintenance, updates, code modifications, and future enhancements.  If you’re running a full time business via your website, and selling more than 10 products a day, you should have a portion of your staff devoted specifically to running that part of your business.

You shouldn’t put internet orders off because you’re too busy with customers in your brick and mortar store.  Someone who buys from you on the internet most likely bought it because you had a better price than they could find in a store.  Just because they’re paying less, doesn’t mean they expect less.  General rule of thumb is, if someone buys from you online, treat it like they’re in your store, and pack their item for shipment immediately, and schedule a pickup through your package carrier.

With that said, the answer to your question is anywhere from $0 – $1,000,000, greatly depending on what you want to do.

Question Asked: How Much Money Do WWE Wrestlers Make?

From what I’m reading online, it varies greatly depending on what your “role” is.  The WWE has varying levels of “stardom”, from low-level no name wreslters, to the main eventers.

The low-level wresleters, depending on how often they work, and who they wrestle can make in upwards of $100,000 per year.

The mid-level wreslters make in upwards of $250,000.

The main eventers (John Cena, HHH, Randy Orton, etc.) pull in $1 million plus per year.

These statistics don’t include DVD sales, or any endorsements that they do.

These numbers may seem pertty high, considering the number of wrestlers there are in the WWE.  But let’s figure out how much money the WWE makes, just on every day ticket sales.

The WWE, technically owns a few different big wrestling brands, namely ECW, and the WWE.  There are three live events per week, ranging from 30,000 seats to 65,000 seats, depending on the venue.  According to the statistics I found online, it’s very rare for a WWE event to not sell out.  So let’s figure out the average per event.  We’ll assume the average stadium holds 45,000 people, and tickets average $45 (obviously there are more expensive tickets, and less expensive tickets. I’m assuming an average here for the sake of simplicity.)

45,000 x 45 = $2,025,000 per event
2025000 x 3 = $6,075,000 per week
6075000 x 52 = $3,159,00,000 per year.

This is only the standard weekly events, and doesn’t include merchandise, or pay per view events.  That’s three billion dollars a year, at the bare minimum.  Seems like a pretty thriving business to me.

Making three billion dollars a year assumingly makes it pretty easy to pay out hundreds of thousands (and millions) to the players in the events.

Question Asked: How Much Water Should I Drink Per Day?

I, for one, know what a pain it is to keep drinking all that water every day.  With that said, the amount of water you “need” to drink every day, varies from person to person, and on a variety of factors: age, weight, height, gender, etc.

An average sized grown man, say 5′10″, 165 pounds shound drink around 13 cups of water a day.
An average sized grown woman, say 5′6″, 120 pounds should drink around 9 cups of water a day.

Kids, however, need to drink more water than adults, and should drink around 16 cups per day.

A pregnant woman should also increase her water intake, just to be sure they’re getting enough.  Generally 14-16 cups of water a day will suffice.
