Question Asked: How Do I Redirect All My Webpages To My New Domain Name?

Changing your domain name can be a pain in the butt, especially if you have a lot of webpages with links in them.

The easiest thing to do is to use a “Redirect” rule, that is unless you prefer opening all of your pages and updating links by hand.  And of course, you can’t redirect traffic coming from search engines that way.  So we’ll proceed with a redirect.

If you already have an .htaccess file in your website’s top directory (ie; not in a folder), open it.  If you don’t, open NotePad or an equivilent text editor. Do not use WordPad.

Type the following in the document:

RedirectMatch 301 (.*) http://www.your-domain.com/$1

Replace “your-domain.com”, with what your new domain name is. Leave the $1 on the end.

Now save the document, and re-upload it to your server for your old domain name. (If you didn’t have an .htaccess file. Save the file as htaccess.txt. Upload it, then rename it to .htaccess once on your server.)

Now any request for any page on your old domain will redirect to the domain name you’ve specified. So mysite.com/this-webpage.html will redirect to mynewsite.com/this-webpage.html

Question Asked: Did Jenna Fischer Actually Walk Across The Coals On The Outing Episode Of “The Office?”

According to an interview she gave a few days before the episode aired, yes.

Jenna Fischer, who plays once-secretary-now-salesperson Pam on NBC’s hit show “The Office” was thrilled that the insurance company let her do the walk, without any trickery.  Which shows how truly safe the hot coal walk really is.

When asked if Fischer would be doing any other daring feats for the show, she replied:

I’d like to see Pam skydive, or bungie jump.

So we would, Jenna. So would we.

Question Asked: What Video Game Character Has Appeared In The Most Games?

The result is astounding, and not at all surprising.

“Mario” from “Super Mario Brothers” holds this record, by a landslide.  The lovable plumber who started his video game career back in 1983 in “Donkey Kong” has appeared in more than 200 video games since.

The most famous of which is the “Super Mario Brothers” franchise, which has single handedly become the biggest selling game franchise in Nintendo’s history, selling over 200 million games over the years.

And interesting fact about the original Mario — he was voiced by Peter Cullen, who also was the original voice of Optimus Prime in “Transformers”.

Super Mario Brothers was also the first video game to sell more than 10 million copies, and was also the first video game to be made into a movie.

Question Asked: What Is Twitter?

“Twitter” is the newest trend in web based social networking.

When someone signs up for Twitter, they get a Twitter web address (twitter.com/yourusernamehere), and can then begin “tweeting.”

A “tweet” is a “microblog” 140 characters or less.  It can be anything from what you’re doing, or a thought you had, or a comment directly at another Twitter member.

A Twitterer can follow other Twitterers, and have those Twitterers follow them, as well. (That’s quite possibly the most confusing sentence I’ve ever written. I apologize.)

According to their “About Us” page:

Twitter is a privately funded startup with offices in the SoMA neighborhood of San Francisco, CA. Started as a side project in March of 2006, Twitter has grown into a real-time short messaging service that works over multiple networks and devices.

To see what a “tweet” is, check out the search results for “Transformers 2″ which opens in theaters today.
