Question Asked: Does Women’s Hair Grow Faster Than Men’s?
It would seem that way, in most instances, since the majority of women in the world have hair longer than men. But that’s not the case, well, not entirely.
Scientific research has shown that men’s and women’s hair grow at the same rate, on average, of 0.4 millimeters per day, or 0.015 inch per day.
That means that every 66 days, give or take, your hair grows an inch. (Roughly 5. inches per year.)
However, with aging, the hair growth process has been seem to diminish more rapidly in men, than women. Starting at age 40, men’s hair growth can slow down to .2 millimeters per day, cutting hair growth in half. Of course, some men’s hair stops growing all together, but that’s another story for another day.
The reason it seems that women’s hair grows faster, is because we don’t investigate the actual length of it, on a daily basis. If we took a man and woman of similar age, and kept track of the length of their hair, how often they cut it, and how much they cut off, you’d see there really is not much difference between the two.
Women generally let their hair grow longer, and thus it seems to grow faster.
